Planetary systems are very common in the galaxy. It is still unknown, however, whether our Solar System is unique, and the fundamental questions How do planets form? How do planets evolve? and What are planets made of? remain key open questions in planetary science. The detailed exploration of planets in our Solar System and the discovery of thousands of planets around other stars (exoplanets) offers a unique opportunity to advance planet theory and bridge Solar-System and eoxplanetary science. We are now in an era where in order to take full advantage of the wealth of observational data and guide future missions more comprehensive theoretical models are needed.
My research includes the origin, evolution, and internal structure of planets in the solar system and around other stars. My research aims at understanding giant planets as a class of planetary objects, and is often used for the interpretation of measurements of planets in the solar system and beyond.
My group includes master students, PhD students, and postdocs.
The group is diverse and active and is known internationally. We ensure that our science is conducted with good spirit and collaborative manner
