Studies
Our department offers study programs in Astrophysics, Astronomy, and Computational Science.
Studying Astrophysics and Astronomy allows students to investigate one of the oldest and most exciting science topics while obtaining a solid understanding in the basics of Physics and Mathematics. Our study programs combine observations of our night sky with theoretical modelling of planets, stars, galaxies, and the universe as a whole.
Studying Computational Science allows students to cross the boundary between one of the main disciplines of the faculty of science (e.g., Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography) and Computer Science. This provides students with a unique set of skills that can be applied to fundamental research in natural sciences.
Our Major programs:
- Bachelor in Astronomy and Astrophysics (as a 180 ECTS Mono or 150 ECTS Major). This is a new study program starting in the fall semester 2025.
- Master in Astronomy and Astrophysics (as a 90 ECTS Mono or a 120 ECTS Major with Minor). This is a new study program planned to starty in the fall semester 2028.
- Master in Computational Science (90 ECTS)
Our Minor programs:
- Astronomy and Astrobiology (30 ECTS or 60 ECTS)
- Astronomy and Astrophysics (30 ECTS)
- Computational Science (30 ECTS or 60 ECTS)
